Now that we have been in a political whirlwind since February 2025, there is little left to do but look forward eagerly to a moment when Ukraine will actually be free, and not just a ceasefire game being played. In four films we look at the course of the invasion of Ukraine: we watch up close how Russian troops entered the country via Belarus, we end up in Butcha, we visit those who have fled and are trying to make and find a new home, and we visit children who are far from home in a limbo waiting for the future, while they try to make a new home in former German Wehrmacht barracks.
Time has stood still for three years. No matter how many geopolitical discussions take place, no matter how many disparaging remarks from presidents go viral; a war has the greatest effect on people, who are subject to the decisions of those in power. In a limbo you try to get a grip on the madness of the day as best you can, until you can see the future again. Until everything will be Ukraine again.
Afterwards there will be a conversation with Dutch-Ukrainian writer Lisa Weeda. The program is organized in collaboration with Wintertuin.
