Education

Go Short presents short films as a powerful tool for learning, discovery, and inspiring on a wide range of topics. It is a lesson in observing, experiencing, and understanding. Through stimulating short films, Go Short offers educational programs all year round and for all ages.

We teach children and young people how visual language works—how a film tells a story, how music and atmosphere influence the viewer, and how to develop a critical eye. We engage with filmmakers, asking questions like: What was the creator’s intention? And we reflect together: How does this film affect you?

Go Short for Primary schools

Especially for primary education, we offer educational programs featuring short documentaries, animations, and fiction films. Our selection is tailored to different grade levels: lower grades (groups 1-2), middle grades (groups 3-6), and upper grades (groups 7-8). Additionally, we provide a specially curated program for group 8. On request, we also offer school screenings and educational programs focused on theme weeks or specific school subjects. These can be enriched or prepared with our additional (online) teaching materials.

Go Short for high schools

With our programs for high school students, we challenge young people to look beyond the screen. With thought-provoking short films and great stories, they learn to understand visual language and begin to see the world through new eyes. From themes like (in)equality to current topics that align with lesson plans or theme weeks such as war and freedom, gender and sexuality, or climate change. In addition to our school screenings, we also offer tailored film projects created for and by students. These are always seamlessly aligned with what's happening in the classroom.

Go Short for mbo students

We offer mbo students the opportunity to learn thru the power of short films. In subjects such as citizenship and social studies, we use films that highlight current themes, allowing students to explore the world from different perspectives. This program can be enriched with discussions with filmmakers, workshops on visual language and media literacy, and customized film programs. Students learn to think critically, reflect on themselves and the world, and discover how visual language influences their way of thinking and communicating.
