Educatie

Go Short collaborates with secondary schools in the region and beyond to meaningfully integrate short film into education. We believe that film is not just an art form, but, through its diversity, a powerful tool for discussing social issues. Short film is a powerful tool for opening conversations and stimulating creativity.

Below you will find some examples of programs we offer. These serve as inspiration; we always develop programs in consultation and can adapt them to the needs of the school.

Stop-motion Program (Lower Grades – Years 1 & 2)

For the lower grades, we offer a fun and educational program about stop-motion animation. In 60 to 75 minutes, students will discover the magic behind this technique: how to bring still images to life? What's involved in making an animated film?

The program consists of a short introduction to stop-motion, a selection of (short) films, and a Q&A with a Dutch or regional filmmaker. This way, students discover how animation is made and what you can tell with it. Afterward, they continue working with lesson materials through LessonUp and can start their own stop-motion project at school, under the teacher's supervision.

Personal Citizenship (Upper Grades)

For upper grades, we offer an in-depth program on personal citizenship. This program lasts approximately 90 minutes and consists of a film screening (approximately 70 minutes), a discussion with a Dutch or regional filmmaker, and a classroom discussion with accompanying teaching materials.

The selected films touch on themes such as identity, peer pressure, family, sexuality, migration, and moral choices. They invite students to consider a different perspective and reflect on questions such as: Who am I? How do I relate to others? And what does responsibility mean in my own life?
