EUROPEAN SHORT FILM DAY

European Short Film Day Donderdag 10 november 2016
EYE, International Film Festival Rotterdam and Go Short bring the European Short film Day to the Netherlands on 21 December 2016. On the shortest day of the year fifteen European countries put the spotlight on short film. Twenty Dutch cinemas offer a compilation program of six European short films, and for the first time a children's program. The European Short Film Day is an annual event.

European Short Film Day was initiated a couple of years ago in France. Short Circuit, the network of non-commercial European short film distributors, decided to launch the European Short Film Day in order to generate more recognition for short-film format in Europe. Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany and France now all participate in this day. In the Netherlands the organisation is done by EYEInternational Film Festival Rotterdam and Go Short. Dutch cinemas present a compilation program with six European short films. For the first time a program has been selected that is suitable for children of three years and older. The children's program includes the crème de la crème of European animation.
